1919 PRESTON ABSENT VOTERS LIST
NOTES:
1
One of the frustrating things about compiling this data was the lack of uniformity used by the people who recorded the original information and/or the compositor(s) who prepared the information for publication. The number of different ways that even the simplest terms, such as Junior, were abbreviated is puzzling and I was tempted to standardize the various abbreviations. However, I decided to use the data as it was originally published so as to eliminate the possibility of my misinterpreting any of the information.

Many of the abbreviations will be obvious to anyone with even a passing interest in military history, but if there are any that you cannot decipher I will try my best to help.

In almost every case, I have transcribed the volumes as they were published, including any obvious errors. However, if you suspect that I have made an error in my transcription please for clarification.

If it turns out that I have made an error I will send you a digital image of the entry at no charge. Otherwise, high resolution digital images of any entry are available at a cost of £1 each.

The Absent Voters Lists for Preston were published in three printings. As the third was labeled Spring 1919 I suspect that the earliest edition was published in late 1918. The entries were published in address order within wards and were numbered from 1 to 14042 as follows:
