THE FAMILY OF MARTIN JACOB LINEMAN

 

Martin Jacob Lineman was the ninth of thirteen children born to Sylvester Wesley Lineman and Marthey Edda Shreffler, who were both born in Pennsylvania and married there in about 1882. At the time of the 1900 Census the family were living in Cranberry, Venango County, Pennsylvania:

NOTES:
1: Living in Cranberry, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
2: Sylvester owned his farm under mortgage.
3: The census schedule records that Sylvester and Marthey had been married 18 years and that Marthey was the mother of 10 children, with 9 then living.
4: The three adults and the five oldest children could read and write, and Gertrude, Lavern and George were attending school.
5: All of their respective parents were shown as having been born in Pennsylvania.

3: The census schedule records that Sylvester and Marthey had been married 28 years and that Marthey was the mother of 13 children, with 12 then living.
4: All but the three youngest children could read and write. George, Lonnie, Bert, Martin and Miron (actually Melvin) were attending school.
5: Unlike the previous census, Sylvester's father is shown as having been born in Germany.

Marthey Edda (Shreffler) Lineman died on 2 September 1912. Sometime later, Sylvester married Emma Fox:
