THE FAMILY OF WILLIAM P & FLORENCE MAE KARNS

BURIAL RECORDS:

 

William and Florence Karns were buried at Cherrytree Cemetery in Venango County, Pennsylvania, and their obituaries were published in a local newspaper.
 
MR. WILLIAM P. KARNS
 
     KARNS - William P Karns, 63, of 101 Charlton St. died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday in his home following an extended illness.
     He was born Jan. 2, 1911, in East Brady, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Karns. He married Florence Bell in July, 1943, who survives.
     A former Koppers employee for 20 years, he retired two years ago due to ill health. He was veteran of World War II, serving with the U. S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.
     He also was a member of St Joseph Church and the American Association of Retired Persons.
     Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sisters, Mrs. Clara Hanna of Franklin, Mrs. Catherine Huefner of Warren and Mrs. Marie Greenfield of Greenville; and a brother, Edward Madden, of Oil City.
     Friends may call at the Joseph Szabat Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
     A Mass of the Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St Joseph Church.
     Interment will be in Cherrytree Cemetery".

MRS. FLORENCE MAE KARNS
 
     "KARNS - Mrs. William P. (Florence B.) Karns, 69, of 101 Charlton St., Oil City, died at 7:06 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 1980, in the Oil City Hospital where she had been admitted earlier in the day.
     
     Mrs. Karns was born at Cherrytree, Nov. 12 1911, the daughter of the late Charles A. and Edith Cauvel Bell. She married William P. Karns July 11, 1944, at Tionesta. He died July 31, 1974.
     Mrs. Karns attended the Cherrytree United Methodist Church.
     She is survived by one nephew, Earl Bell, of Titusville, RD 3; and three step-nieces, Miss Rose L. Bly of Tucson Ariz., Mrs. Howard (Violet) Fenstermaker of Prospect and Mrs. Emil (Ethel) Johnson of Wattsburg.
     A brother, Earl Bell Sr., died previously.
      Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Donald Myers, pastor of the Cherrytree United Methodist Church, officiating.
     Interment will be in the Cherrytree Cemetery."
