The Life of Nellie M Madden

Nellie Madden never married and lived her entire life with her parents. Although she was born in Indiana, by 1900 her family had settled in Washington, D.C.

Like her father and older brother, she spent most of her adult life working for the U.S. government.

Sometime before 1920 the family bought a home at 1316 East Capitol Street, a little more than a mile from the Capitol Building, where they lived for the rest of their lives.

After the deaths of her parents, Nellie continued to live at the family home until her death in 1955.

NOTES:
1:	Various records record Nellie's place of birth simply as "Indiana" and I have not been able to find a record of her birth or baptism thus far. Her mother was also said to have been born in Indiana.
2:	Nellie's death notice did not give her age or the exact date of her death. Her funeral was on the 25th of March 1955.
