NOTES:
1: There is some confusion over Mary's middle name. I was always told it was Fitzgerald - her mother's maiden name - but some records have it recorded as Caroline. Unfortunately, her marriage certificate records her name simply as Mary Newberry.
2: There is also confusion over the name of James Grogan's mother. When he married his first wife he gave his mother's name as Mary Jane Brennan, but when he married Mary Newberry he gave his mother's name as Mary Walton. I have found his parents' marriage certificate and can confirm that his mother's name was Mary Walton.
3: The above information is based on the recollections of my grandmother, Mary Newberry Madden Watson, and on birth, marriage, death, and census records, including scanned images at www.ancestry.co.uk.
