"...Thomas Joseph Banks, who died March 28th 1926, aged 2 years,
Also of Maud Boocock, who died Dec.26th 1927, aged 27 years old.
On whose souls sweet Jesus have mercy.
Also Thomas A. Boocock, died May 6th 1939, aged 68 years,
Also Mary A. Boocock, died April 27th 1957, aged 84 years,
Also James Banks, died Oct. 3, 1959, aged 64 years..."

(Buried in Plot AA 235 in the Roman Catholic section of Preston New Cemetery.
This partial inscription is from a curb-stone type monument which is damaged and incomplete.)

 

DEATH NOTICE:
"Boocock - On the 6th inst., at 26, Moor Hall-Street, Thomas Aloysius, the beloved husband of Mary Ann
Boocock, aged 68 years. R.I.P. "After long suffering, patiently borne". Requiem Mass English Martyr's
Church, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. - Arrangements, H. Whalley & Sons. Tel. 4936."

"Boocock - Of your charity pray for the repose of the soul of Mary Ann, aged 84 years, the beloved wife of the late Thomas A. Boocock, who, fortified with the rites of the Holy Church, died on April 27th, at 26, Moor Hall-Street, Preston. R.I.P. "O Jesus open wide thy heart and let her rest therein", Mass at the church of English Martyr's, Wednesday, 9 o'clock. Prior to interment, Preston Cemetery. - Arrangements, Messrs. H. Whalley and Sons, Preston, Phone 4936."

BURIAL RECORDS:
The following 3 infant children of Thomas and Mary Ann Boocock were buried in a private Taylor family grave, BB-401, in the Church of England section of Preston Cemetery:
1: Lawrence Boocock, aged 3 weeks, of 22 Hammond Street, Preston, was buried on 5 October 1889 by A.E. Clarke. His was the 3rd interment, buried 14 ft deep. Burial No. 41090.
2: Phyllis Boocock, aged 2 weeks, of 32 Young Street, Preston, was buried on 2 November 1890 by R. Frith. Hers was the 4th interment, buried 12'6" deep. Burial No. 42523
3: Richard Boocock, aged 1 year, of 20 Gillett Street, Preston, was buried on 28 December 1893 by J. Pimblett. His was the 6th interment, buried 11ft deep. Burial No. 47070.

 

On 18 January 1896, Richard Boocock, age 7 hours, of 198 Barlow Street, was buried in a public grave,
I-731 in the Church of England section of Preston Cemetery. His was the 5th interment and the service was conducted by E.E. Gould Adams.

On 10 May 1939, Thomas Aloysius Boocock, age 68 years, of 26 Moor Hall Street, Preston, was buried in a private family grave, AA-235 in the Roman Catholic section of Preston New Cemetery. His was the 3rd burial and his occupation was listed as a Weaver.

On 1 May 1957, Mary Ann Boocock (nee' Taylor), age 84 years, of 26 Moor Hall Street, Preston, was buried with her late husband in grave AA-235 in Preston New Cemetery. Hers was the 4th burial and the records list her as the widow of Thomas.

 

NOTES:
1: The headstone on the Taylor family grave has fallen face down and could not be read.
2: Grave BB-401 also contains several Taylor and Gillett children, and Mary Ann's parents.
3: The above information was taken from microfilmed copies of the original Preston Cemetery burial registers held at the Lancashire Record Office, from microfilmed copies of newspapers held at the Harris Library, and from a visit to their graves.
