FAMILY HISTORY: MORTON

THE FAMILY OF ELIZABETH ASHTON

Elizabeth's parents, James Ashton and Agnes Christina Parkinson were married in 1883. I believe that James Ashton had been married previously. Agnes Christina had at least three children before she married James. I base that on information from the 1881 Census of Preston:

1881 CENSUS OF PRESTON, LANCASHIRE:
NAME: RELATION: CONDITION: SEX: AGE: OCCUPATION: BIRTHPLACE:
Agnes C. Parkinson Head Unm. F 30 Cotton Throstle Spinner Preston, Lancashire
Walter F. Parkinson Son - M 10 Scholar Preston, Lancashire
Alfred Parkinson Son - M 3 - Preston, Lancashire
George Parkinson Son - M 1 - Preston, Lancashire
NOTES:
1: Living at 4 Fairclough Street, Preston. (RG11-4234, Folio 105, page 32)
2: The above information is taken from a copy of the census returns held on microfiche at the Lancashire Record Office in Preston.

1881 CENSUS OF PRESTON, LANCASHIRE:

James Ashton Head Widower M 33 Engine Tenter (Driver) Ribchester, Lancashire
NOTES:
1: Living at 1 Corry Street, Preston. (RG11-4236, Folio 27, page 3)
2: There were a couple of people living in Preston in 1881 that fit what we know about Agnes' husband but this seems to be the most likely candidate.
3: The above information is taken from a copy of the census returns held on microfiche at the Lancashire Record Office in Preston.
