"In the most Holy name of Jesus, pray for the soul of
Catherine Morton, a dearly loved wife and mother,
died 19th Feb. 1961, aged 75 years.
Also William, beloved husband of the above,
died 17th July 1920, aged 36 years.
Also Victor George Fry, Son-in-Law of the above,
died 31st Jan. 1989, aged 70 years.
Also John Morton, son of the above,
died 2nd Dec. 1991, aged 77 years.
Eternal Rest give unto them O' Lord".

BURIAL RECORDS:
James and Catherine Morton are buried together in the churchyard of St. Mary's Brownedge Roman Catholic Church, Bamber Bridge. The only information I have regarding their burials is based on the above monument inscription. I have not yet seen the burial register entries.

 

PROBATE RECORD:
Catherine Morton, of 44 St. Mary's Road, Bamber Bridge, near Preston, widow, died 19 Feb. 1961, Probate Lancaster 2 Nov. 1961 to John Morton, Storekeeper; Cecilia Fry (wife of Victor George Fry); and Anne Whittle (wife of James Whittle). Effects: £1206, 9s, 4d.

No Probate record has been found for William Morton.

 

NOTE: The 1944 Preston Directory lists Catherine at 44 St. Mary's Road, Bamber Bridge. The 1963 Directory lists her son John at that address.
