THE FAMILY OF MARY BUCHANAN STEWART BLAIKIE

 

Mary's father James was born on 18 August 1828, the son of Alexander Blaike and Mary Stewart, in Little Dunkeld, Scotland.

Mary's mother Annie Buchanan Sproat was baptized on 24 February 1837, the daughter of Thomas Sproat and Mary Buchanan, in Stranraer, Wigtown, Scotland.

The couple were married on 21 June 1866 at Tradeston, Glasgow, Scotland. It seems that the couple moved about during their early married life as their daughter Mary was born in Liverpool and their son James was born in Manchester. They were back in Liverpool by the night of the 1881 Census:
