THE FAMILY OF JAMES WEIGHTS

INFORMATION FROM WILLS:

 

The Will of James Weights:
This is the Last Will and Testament of James Weights, of 6 Deacon Street in the city of Liverpool in the county of Lancaster, Gas Rent Collector.

I appoint my son Samuel Weights of 66 Nickleby Street, Liverpool aforesaid, Warehouseman, and Herman Rahe of Florida Street, Bootle, Rigger, Executors and Trustees hereof.

I direct my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid.

I give to my daughter Mary Hendry, the wife of Archibald Hendry, Engine Driver, my marble clock, two silver teaspoons, and cameo brooch. I give to my said Son Samuel Weights my barometer, six silver spoons, and pair of tongs. I give to my son John Weights a mahogany chest of drawers and secretaire and one silver cream jug.

I give, devise and bequeath the residue of my Real and Personal estate unto the said Samuel Weights and Herman Rahe in trust as to my two freehold houses, 47 and 49 Great Hanover Street, Preston, to pay the rents and profits thereof to my wife during her life if she shall so long continue my widow and from and after her decease or second marriage (which shall first happen) in trust for my said children, the said Mary Hendry, Samuel Weights and John Weights in equal shares as tenants in common.

And as to my household furniture, goods, chattles, and effects not hereinbefore bequested, in trust to permit my said wife to use and enjoy the same during her life if she shall so long continue my widow and from and after her decease or second marriage (which shall first happen) Upon trust for my two grandchildren Charlotte Hamilton and Annie Hamilton in equal shares.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this second day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty seven. (signed) James Weights

Signed by the said testator as and for his last Will and testament in the presence of us present at the same time who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses (signed) Edwin Berry, Solicitor, Liverpool - Harold Forrest, his Clerk, Liverpool.

Proved at Liverpool the 16th day of April 1891 by the oaths of Samuel Weights, the son, and Herman Rahe the Executors to whom Administration was granted.

The Testator James Weights was late of Deacon Street in Liverpool in the County of Lancaster, Gas Rent Collector, and died on the 3rd March 1891 at Deacon Street aforesaid.

Personal Estate: £111 4s 10d.
