MONUMENT INSCRIPTIONS:

(George Morton and his younger children are buried in unmarked public graves at Preston Cemetery. His widow Mary is buried in a private grave with her son Robert and other family members. I have not yet seen their grave.)

BURIAL RECORDS:
William died in infancy but I have not found his burial record. He is not buried in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery, which opened in 1855.
Emma Morton, age 19 mos, of Upper Walker Street, was buried in an unmarked public grave, B-812, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 27 January 1859.
Mary Ann Morton, age 14 mos, of Higginson Street, was buried in an unmarked public grave, F-473, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 16 December 1860.
Mary Morton, age 5, of 18 Higginson Street, was buried in an unmarked public grave, H-1057, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 7 September 1871.
George Morton, age 51, of 82 Friargate, was buried in an unmarked public grave, C-479, in the Roman Catholic section, I-479, Preston Cemetery on 3 March 1879.
Mary Morton [nee' Hardman], age 83, of 48 Stocks Road, was buried in a private grave, B-255, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 27 April 1909.

 

NOTE:
The 1877 Directory of Preston lists: "George Morton, Friar's Gate Beerhouse, 82 Friargate."
