| 1: | In many of the records pertaining to this family the surname was spelled White but William signed his surname Weights. |
| 2: | The Garstang Chapel was a chapel of ease to St Helen's Parish Church at Churchtown, near Garstang and is now know as St Thomas' Church. |
| 3: | I don't know why four of the children were baptized in the Church of England but the two who survived infancy, Samuel and Joseph, appear to have remained Anglicans while their siblings were apparently devout Catholics. |
