FAMILY HISTORY: MORTON

THE FAMILY OF JOHN CRITCHLEY

During a search of the Access to Archives website I found several references to John Critchley, Alice's brother, and these led me to a collection of original documents held at the Lancashire Record Office which was a goldmine of information.

Before finding these documents I did not know the names of their parents or have any information about any other siblings she may have had.

Alice mentioned her brother John in her Will and from that I found the following entry in the Register of Papists that refers to John and his family.

Before my latest discovery, this was all I knew about Alice's family

1767 REGISTER OF PAPISTS, CLAUGHTON-ON-BROCK, LANCASHIRE:
No.: NAME: OCCUPATION: AGE: RESIDENCE: HOW LONG?:
677 John Crouchley Yeoman 52 Claughton 52 years
678 Ellin Wife 64 Claughton 21 years
679 Jas Yeoman 21 Claughton 21 years
NOTES:
1: Crouchley seems to have been a common variant spelling of the family name.
2: The ages given are questionable.

I have only had time to study a few of the many documents available and will add more information as soon as I compile it.
