The Family of Ellen Gregson

Ellen Gregson was born in or near Croston in 1875, the daughter of Ann Gregson, a single woman. She was baptized at Rufford on 25 July 1875 by R. Anderton, the Curate of Eccleston. The only clue to her father's identity is the inclusion of his name in the marriage register when Ellen married Robert Norris in 1902.

At the time of the 1881 Census Ellen and her younger sister Isabella were were living with their mother at their grandparent's home in Croston:
