1: The above baptisms took place at St. Michael and All Angels Parish Church, Croston, Lancashire, with the exception of the twins, Thomas and Mary, who were baptized privately by the doctor attending their mother - almost certainly because they were not expected to survive. Their baptisms were recorded in the registers of St Mary the Virgin Parish Church in Eccleston and the twins lived on a few days.
