James Banks was the son of Robert Banks, born in Croston on 20 May 1847, and Ellen Ditchfield, born in Croston on 4 November 1848,
They were married at St Michael & All Angels Church in Croston on 26 April 1874. James was born c. 1877. The only other information I have at this time comes from the 1881 Census: |

Robert Banks died on 8 August 1899 and Ellen Banks died on 2 December 1925. They are buried together at the Parish Church in Croston: |
"In loving Memory of... Robert Banks, who died August 8th 1899, aged 52 years... ...Also, Ellen, relict of above Robert Banks, who died December 2nd 1925, aged 77 years" |
