THE FAMILY OF RICHARD SMITH
| Richard's parents, William Smith and Hannah Mayor were married at St Michael & All Angels Parish Church in Croston on 28 August
1833. Hannah died in Croston on 3 May 1875, aged 75 years, and William died in Croston on 15 January 1886, aged 73 years. If the dates and ages on their headstone are correct, Hannah was almost 14 years older than her husband. "In Affectionate Remembrance of HANNAH, Wife of WILLIAM SMITH died 3rd May 1875 aged 75 years. Also, the above WILLIAM SMITH died 15th January 1886 aged 73. Also, JANET, Daughter of the above died 19th November 1920 aged 84 years" They are buried together in the churchyard of St Michael and All Angels Church. |
