THE DALTON FAMILY OF CROSTON

 

The wives of John and James Cottam were sisters, the daughter's of William and Ann Dalton of Croston.

William Dalton was born in Croston on 31 August 1819 and Ann Glover was born c. 1823. They were married in the Parish Church on 20 September 1841 and had at least nine children.

William and Ann lived their whole lives in Croston and are buried together in the churchyard of St Michael and All Angels Church.
"In loving Memory of Ann, wife of William Dalton of Dob Farm, Croston,
who died 24th December 1890 aged 67 years.
William Dalton, who died 6th February 1902 aged 82 years,
John Dalton, son of the above, who died 12th March 1905 aged 60 years,
and Sgt John William Dalton R.A.M.C., grandson of above,
who died 23rd March 1919 aged 27 years.
Also, Susannah Howard, daughter of the above,
who died 27th June 1944 aged 92 years.
Margaret Jackson, daughter of above William & Ann Dalton,
who died 12th August 1948 aged 86 years.
Also, Zedekiah Jackson Hayes, husband of Mary Edith Hayes,
who died 24th September 1954 aged 82 years.
Also, the above Mary Edith Hayes, who died 28th January 1956 aged 80 years"
