THE FAMILY OF RICHARD SHEPHERD

 

Richard's family appear to have lived in the area around St. Ignatius' Church for all of their lives. The only record I have of them at this time is the 1881 census, and the burial records for some of the family.

In addition to the above children, Thomas and Elizabeth Shepherd had another son, Thomas Shepherd Jr. who died at age 16 and was buried on 29 June 1878 in a private grave B-193, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery. His address was 1 St Ignatius Place, Preston.

A few months later, Thomas' mother, Susannah Shepherd died and was buried on 21 October 1878 in the same grave. Her address was also listed as 1 St. Ignatius Place.

Their daughter Mary Shepherd died at age 1 year and was buried on 26 August 1880 in the same grave. Her address was listed as 49 Holstein Street, Preston.

Richard's grandfather, Joseph Shepherd, age 72 years, was buried on 18 August 1884 in the family grave. His address was also listed as 49 Holstein Street.

Thomas Shepherd, of 26 Meadow Street, Preston, died on 13 January 1899 and was buried in the family grave at Preston Cemetery on 17 January 1899.
