THE FAMILY OF ELIZABETH ANN SIMPSON
Elizabeth Ann Simpson was the daughter of Thomas Simpson and Jane Worswick, who were married in Preston in 1866. Sometime after the birth of their first child, Sarah, that same year, the family moved to Manchester where they had at least 2 other children - including Elizabeth Ann. By the night of the 1881 Census the family had returned to Preston: |

Thomas Simpson died aged just 44 years and was buried in Preston Cemetery on 22 February 1888. By the night of the 1911 Census his widow Jane was living with her daughter Sarah, who had married Norval William Campbell in 1890: |

Jane (Worswick) Simpson died aged 75 years and was buried on 20 June 1922 in the same grave as her husband. The grave, B 110 in a Catholic section of
Preston Cemetery, contains six burials: Thomas Simpson, 22 Feb 1888, age 44 William Simpson, 6 May 1889, age 54 Elizabeth May Campbell, 31 Jul 1893, age 3 months Jane Simpson, 20 Jun 1922, age 75 William Swarbrick, 27 Apr 1954, age 82 Elizabeth Swarbrick, 9 Apr 1957, age 86 The grave was purchased by Jane Simpson upon the death of her husband Thomas in 1888. |
