NOTES: | |
 | Alice Jane's baptism record records her mother's name as Mary Jane instead of Mary Agnes. |
 | Although all six of their children were born in Windermere, Robert and Mary brought them down to Carnforth, a journey of 24 miles each way, for baptism. I have not found a baptism record for William, who was not baptized at Christ Church. As William did not survive, it may be that he was baptized privately at home. |
 | As a rule, early Church of England baptism registers did not record the child's date of birth. Many, but not all, clergy entered the birth dates in as additional information. Winifred's baptism entry had the word "December" written in the margin but not an exact date of birth. |
 | The above information was taken from the baptism registers of Christ Church, Carnforth, held at the Lancashire Archives. |
