THE FAMILY OF EDWARD JOSEPH MADDEN

Edward and Viola were buried at Grove Hill Cemetery in Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and their obituaries were published in the local newspaper.
 
MRS. VIOLA L. MADDEN
 
     "MRS. VIOLA L. MADDEN, 74, of 126 Hillcrest Ave., an employee of the County Office of Aging, died at 5:05 a.m. Friday, July 27, 1979 in the Oil City Hospital.
     Mrs. Madden was born near Knox on May 14, 1905, a daughter of Howard Melvin "Mel" Fye and Rhoda Bessie Dietrich Fye Graham. She lived in Oil City most of her life.
     She was formerly employed by the Royal Restaurant and the Oil City Hospital, and currently worked at the Venango County Office of Aging. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church and was also a member of the Friendly Circle.
     She was first married in 1929 to Charles L. Condon, who preceded her in death. She was then married on July 29, 1939 to Edward J. Madden, who survives. Her husband is a resident of Venango Manor.
     In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ronald J. (Bonnie J.) Dehn of Oil City, Carole Madden and Mrs. Donald A. (Coletta L.) Arndt, both of Euclid, OH; and by three grandchildren, Donald A. Arndt Jr. of Euclid and Ronald and Christine Dehn, both of Oil City. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Pearl Smith and Mrs. Emma Sylvia Taylor, both of Oil City, and Mrs. Leon (Goldie B.) Pierce of Dunedin, FL. Mrs. Madden was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Alberta O. French, two brothers, Harry Fye and Wallace Leroy Fye and her step-father, Martin Graham.
     Friends will be received at the Jonathon H. Hutchinson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rev. William Smith, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church, will officiate at the services. Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery".

EDWARD J. MADDEN
 
     "EDWARD J. MADDEN, 74, formerly of 126 Hillcrest Ave., died at 3:50 p.m. Monday May 26, 1980 in Venango Manor. Born November 13, 1905, in East Brady, he was the son of William and Ella McCue Madden. Mr. Madden lived in Oil City most of his life. He attended St. Joseph School.
     He was married on July 29, 1939, to the former Viola L. Fye, who preceded him in death on July 27, 1979.
     Mr. Madden was formerly employed by the Mushroom Transportation Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. He served in the U.S. Army.
     Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald J. (Bonnie J.) Dehn of Oil City, Carole Madden of Euclid, OH and a step-daughter, Mrs. Donald A. (Coletta L.) Arndt of Euclid; a sister, Mrs. Marie Greenfield of Greenville; and two grandchildren, Ronald Dehn and Christine Dehn, both of Oil City, and a step-grandson, Donald A. Arndt Jr. of Euclid. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Karns.
     The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Jonathon H. Hutchinson Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements will be announced in Wednesday's Derrick. Burial will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery"
