The Family of Edward Joseph Madden: Census Returns

At the time of the 1920 Census, Edward Joseph Madden was a 14 year old boy living with his parents in Oil City. That information can be found on his parent's Census page. Donna Arlene (Atkinson) Madden died young without having had any children and Edward Joseph remarried in July of 1939. By the time of the 1940 Census the couple had settled in Oil City:

1:	Living at 603 Bissell Avenue, Oil City, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
2:	Edward and his family were living in a rented house and paying $10 a month rent. Another family lived at the same address, also paying $10 a month, so the house may have been divided into two flats.
3:	The 1940 census schedules recorded information differently than previous censuses. Instead of recording the birthplace of each persons' parents they chose to select certain individuals to record 'Supplementary Questions'. In this case, no one in this household was asked the additional questions.
4:	The highest grade of school completed for Edward was 7th grade, and 8th grade for Viola, while Coletta had completed 4th grade. At the time the census was taken she had not yet started the 5th grade.
