FAMILY HISTORY: MADDEN

MONUMENT INSCRIPTION:

BURIAL RECORDS:

Helen May Madden, of 211 South Royal Street, died of diphtheria on 26 April 1919 and was buried in a Creegan family plot, section E, at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria City, Virginia.

Mrs Ida Regina Madden, of 211 South Royal Street, Alexandria, died of chronic nephritis on 5 January 1920, aged 30, and was buried in a Creegan family plot, section E, at St Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria City, Virginia.

Madonna Madden died after being hit by a truck on 28 July 1923, aged 10 years. There is a burial in St Mary's Catholic Cemetery that I suspect is actually Madonna, but the facts given don't support that. The child buried in section E at the cemetery is listed as Madeline Madden, aged 10 months. Her date of death is given as 28 June 1923. Coincidence? Perhaps...but I'm still working on it.

NOTES:
1: It appears that Helen and her mother Ida were staying at Ida's parents' house during their illnesses. The informant of Ida's death certificate was her husband, James Edward Madden, of 147 D Street S.E.
2: Except for the death notices, I have not found the burial records for James Edward and Evalyn Madden.
3: Cedar Hill Cemetery is located just outside of Washington, in Suitland, Maryland.
4: Fort Lincoln Cemetery is located just outside of Washington, in Brentwood, Maryland.
5: The above information is taken from the death notices published in The Washington Post, and from information on the above noted Find a Grave website.
