The Life of John Madden

At this point in time John Madden's life is a bit of a mystery to me. The last record I have of him is the 1860 Census, when he was a 15 year old boy living with his parents in Porter Township, Pennsylvania. By the time of the 1870 Census he would have been about 25, so it's not surprising that he was no longer living with his parents.

I have searched for John Madden in the various census and other records, but there were a number of men called John Madden, all of a similar age, and I have been unable to verify which, if any, is the right one. I did gather quite a bit of information on one man and his family before confirming his approximate date of birth and realizing he was much too old to be our man.

The only thing I can say with any certainty is that John Madden died sometime before 1923, as he was not listed in the obituary of his brother Patrick, who died in that year.

I'll keep looking and may stumble upon him some day.
