Sometime after the birth of their son Daniel, the family emigrated to the USA where the rest of their children were born. I have not yet found the birth or baptism records for the American born children. |
NOTES: | |
1: | In Margaret's baptism record, Anna's maiden surname and the surnames of both witnesses were spelt "Whitefort", and the name of their abode was spelt "Muntoer". |
2: | In the baptism records, many of the names were abbreviated. James was often written as "Jas", Margaret was written as "Marg't", Patrick as "Patt", Daniel as "Dan:", and John as "Jno". |
3: | Montore is a farming community in County Tipperary, a short distance from the village of Dunkerrin. |
4: | Dunkerrin is actually in County Offaly, but the baptism records describe it as being in County Tipperary. |
5: | The above information is taken from transcripts kindly provided by my distant cousin John Patrick Madden and from scans of the original registers now online at the National Library of Ireland. |
