FAMILY HISTORY: BOOCOCK

THE LIFE OF MAUD BOOCOCK

Maud Boocock was the youngest child of Thomas and Mary Ann Boocock. She lived her short life in Preston with her mother and father, although I have not been able to find her parents in the 1891 Census returns.

At the time of the 1901 Census Maud was 4 months old.

According to my late cousin Elsie (Swarbrick) Banks, Maud was engaged to a man called Thomas Kell when she died. Tom was apparently a close friend of the family. He and Maud were witnesses to Maud's sister Beatrice's first marriage and were Godparents to Beattie and James Banks' only child. Elsie said that Tom was a lovely man and Maud's untimely death broke his heart.

Maud Boocock, of 26, Moor Hall-Street, died on Boxing Day, 26 December 1927 at the age of 27 years and was buried on 30 December 1927 in a private family grave, AA-235, in a Roman Catholic section of Preston New Cemetery.
