FAMILY HISTORY: BOOCOCK

THE FAMILY OF ROBERT AND SARAH BOOCOCK

MONUMENT INSCRIPTIONS AND BURIAL RECORDS:

MONUMENT INSCRIPTIONS:

(Robert and Sarah Boocock's infant daughters are buried in unmarked public graves at Preston Cemetery. The burial place of Robert, Sarah and Frances Boocock is unknown at this time.)

BURIAL RECORDS:
Ellen [Helen] Boocock, age 1 year, of 3 Georges Passage, Preston was buried in a public grave, H-1190, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 11 January 1887.

Margaret Boocock, age 17 months, of 32 Young Street, Preston was buried in a public grave, H-1211, in the Roman Catholic section of Preston Cemetery on 20 March 1889.

Two of Robert's sisters emigrated to the U.S. in the late 19th or early 20th century. His niece Elsie (Swarbrick) Banks had a funeral card giving Robert's date of death as 13 May 1924 (he would have been 61). The card does not say where he died or was buried but was printed in Brooklyn, New York.

I have not been able to find any official record of his death or burial other than the burial card:

NOTES:
1: I have never been able to find any further record of Robert's wife Sarah or their eldest daughter Frances Mary. It is possible that both Sarah and Francis died before Robert emigrated to America, but I have not found any record of their death or burial in England.
2: The burial card shown above was probably sent to Robert's sister Ellen (Boocock) Swarbrick and then passed down to her son George Leo Swarbrick and finally to his daughter Elsie. Elsie had no recollection of her great-uncle Robert, but he would have almost certainly moved to America before Elsie was born.
3: The above information is from microfilmed copies of the original burial registers held at the Lancashire Record Office, and from the burial card given to me by my late cousin Elsie (Swarbrick) Banks.
