THE FAMILY OF MARY ANN TAYLOR

 

Mary Ann Taylor was the daughter of Lawrence Reid Taylor and Phillis Whittle. She was one of at least six children and was born and raised in Preston. Her family were members of the Church of England and she would have almost certainly been baptized at one of the many C. of E. churches around Preston. In 1906, at the age of 33 years, she converted to the Roman Catholic faith and was re-baptized:

Phillis Whittle, the daughter of Peter and Phillis Whittle, was baptized at the Parish Church of St. John in Preston on 20 January 1850. She married Lawrence Taylor in the same church on 12 May 1867. The only other record I have of Mary Ann's family are the 1881 and 1891 census entries:
