THE LIFE OF ALICE MORTON

 

After the death of her parents, Alice and her brothers James and Robert went to live with her uncle John Turner, as noted in the 1881 Census:

10 years later, Alice and her brother Robert are found living with their aunt Alice Turner. Their uncle John was probably dead by the time of the 1891 Census:

Alice Morton never married. After spending many years living with various members of her mother's family she lived out the rest of her life in Walton-le-Dale, where she died on 23 September 1935.

 

DEATH NOTICE:
"Morton - On the 23rd inst., at 21, Bridge Street, Alice Morton, aged 77 years. R.I.P. Requiem Mass at
St. Joseph's, Brindle, at 9 a.m. - Inquiries T. Raby, Funeral Director, Bamber Bridge (Tel. 85356)."

MONUMENT INSCRIPTION:

"...Alice,
sister-in-law of the above,
died 23rd September 1935, aged 77 years..."

BURIAL RECORD:
Alice Morton was buried with her brother Robert's wife Jane and member's of their family in the churchyard cemetery at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Brindle. The full monument inscription is included with Robert and Jane Morton's details.
