THE LIFE OF WILLIAM MORTON

 

I have not been able to find out too much about William Morton, other than what is recorded in the Census Returns and in his burial record. It appears that he never married and worked throughout his short life as a farm labourer.

2: William was living and working on the farm of Harry Pickup and family.

William Morton Servant Unm. M 41 Ag. Lab. Walton-le-Dale, Lancashire
NOTES:
1: Living at Walmsley Fold Farm, Samlesbury. (RG13-3958, folio 14/1)
2: William was living and working on the farm of Moses Cowell and family.
3: William's occupation was originally entered as "yardman on farm" but was crossed out and replaced with "ag. lab." , meaning agricultural Labourer.

 

William Morton, of Coupe Green, died aged 51 years on 5 October 1911, and was buried on 9 October 1911 in an unmarked grave the churchyard of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Brindle.
