THE FAMILY OF EDWARD WHITTLE

 

Edward Whittle was the son of John Whittle, born in Croston on 14 March 1819, and Margaret Garstang, born c. 1819, who were married on 18 February 1855 at St Michael & All Angels Parish Church in Croston. Edward was born on 24 August 1856 and baptized at the same church on 8 September 1856.

Margaret Whittle died on 4 May 1874 and John married Annis Almond at Croston on 24 October 1875. The only other information I have about his family at this time comes from the 1881 Census:

Annis Whittle died on 5 April 1881 and John died on 26 October 1893. They are all buried together in the churchyard at Croston:
"...In Affectionate Remembrance of Margaret, Wife of John Whittle, who died 4th May 1874, aged 55 years.
Also Annis, the beloved wife of the above, who died 5th April 1881, aged 52 years...
...Also the above John Whittle, who died 26th October 1893, aged 74 years"
