2: The enumerator - or whoever filled in the Census form - seemed to be confused about the instruction to round down the ages of people over fifteen years of age. Mary's age was first written as 42 but was overwritten as 40, Ann's age was written as 19 but was changed to 15, and Ellen's should have been entered as 15 but her correct age was given.
3: The elder Ellen was Robert's spinster sister, who was 43 and of Independent means.
