NOTES: | |
 | Robert Rigbye was christened plain Robert and his marriage record is the only time that I have found him to have used the middle name Norris. |
 | The entry in the Croston marriage register states that they were married "with consent of parents" but this is an obvious error. Robert was 25 and Mary was almost 22 - so they would not have needed the consent of their parents to marry. |
 | The spelling of the family surname varied depending on which clergy was entering the information in the registers. Earlier records tend to spell the name without the final E but all of the later records spell the name as shown above. |
 | Ann (Rigbye) Critchley was buried with her husband in the churchyard at Tarleton Parish Church but the burial records at the Lancashire Record Office end at 1883. |
 | The above information is taken from Baptism, Marriage and Burial records held at the Lancashire Record Office in Preston. |
