NOTES:
Robert Rigbye was christened plain Robert and his marriage record is the only time that I have found him to have used the middle name Norris.
The entry in the Croston marriage register states that they were married "with consent of parents" but this is an obvious error. Robert was 25 and Mary was almost 22 - so they would not have needed the consent of their parents to marry.
The spelling of the family surname varied depending on which clergy was entering the information in the registers. Earlier records tend to spell the name without the final E but all of the later records spell the name as shown above.
Ann (Rigbye) Critchley was buried with her husband in the churchyard at Tarleton Parish Church but the burial records at the Lancashire Record Office end at 1883.
The above information is taken from Baptism, Marriage and Burial records held at the Lancashire Record Office in Preston.
