THE FAMILY OF ANN NORRIS-COTTAM-DOBSON

MONUMENT INSCRIPTIONS:

"In Memory of ANN DOBSON of Croston,
who departed this life 7th April 1871 aged 78 years.
Also, Robert Norris Esq., brother of the above, of Croston,
who departed this life August 10th 1872, aged 68 years.
Also Sarah, the beloved wife of Richard Cottam,
departed this life May 27th 1873, aged 49 years.
`Afflictions sore, so long she bore, Physicians were in vain,
till God did (worn away) and free her from her pain'.
Also of Henry Norris,
who departed this life June 26th 1882, aged 72 years."

February 7th, 1851, aged 58 years."

Buried 8 January 1831, a stillborn child of John and Nanny Cottam of Croston.

Buried 18 October 1834, John Cottam of Croston, age 45, by Streyn. Master, Rector.

No. 1398:

Buried 11 February 1851, James Dobson of Croston, age 58, by W. P. R. Waudby, Curate.

No. 70:

Buried 12 April 1871, Ann Dobson of Croston, age 78, by M. B. G. R. Lucas, Curate.

 

NOTES:
1: The monument inscription for Ann's second husband John Dobson is a partial inscription. He is buried with his first wife and some of their children.
2: The register entries for stillbirths did not record who performed the service as there probably wasn't one.
3: The above information is taken from the headstones and from the Burial Records for St Michael and All Angel's Church held on microfiche at the Lancashire Record Office.
