NOTES:
1: Robert Caunce Norris was John's cousin and the first to be buried in the Norris family vault, which contains the remains of at least seven members of the Norris family.
2: John and Ellen's two infant children were buried in a family vault beneath the floor of the church but these burials had to be stopped as they were undermining the foundations of the church and the church tower was beginning to lean.
3: The above information is taken from the headstones and from the Burial Records of St Michael and All Angel's Church held on microfiche at the Lancashire Record Office.
