THE FAMILY OF WILLIAM BRACKENBURY

 

William Brackenbury was the son of Robert Edward Brackenbury and Margaret Dewhurst.

Robert, who was born in Ribchester in about 1862, was the son of James Brackenbury and Elizabeth Crawford, who were married at St Peter's Church in Preston in 1858.

Margaret was born in Blackburn in about 1861.

Robert and Margaret were married in Blackburn in 1882.

William was the 5th of at least 8 children and at the time of the 1901 Census the family was living in the village of Little Hoole, Lancashire:

Robert Edward Brackenbury died in February 1918 and was buried at Preston Cemetery on 16 February 1918, aged 56 years. He was buried in the Church of England section D grave 510, the first burial in a private grave.

Margaret (Dewhurst) Brackenbury, of 61 Bootle Street, was buried in the same grave on 8 July 1941, aged 80. Hers was the 3rd and last burial in the grave.

Robert and Margaret's daughter Florrie, the wife of Joseph Boddington of 143 Norris Street, Preston, had been the 2nd burial. She was buried on 17 August 1933, aged 49. Florrie Brackenbury married Joseph Boddington at St Andrew's Church in Longton in 1905 and had at least three children.
