| By 1901 Richard and Agnes had moved to Forton, a village 2 miles north of Scorton. The older children had married and started families of their own, and on the night of the census only their youngest daughter was still living at home: |

| Richard Butler died on Friday, 16 November 1906, aged 65 years, and was buried 4 days later in the churchyard at St Mary and St Michael
Catholic Church in Bonds, Garstang. Agnes lived as his widow for another 20 years and died on Saturday, 19 June 1926. She was buried with her husband on 22 June 1926 in their private family grave at Bonds. Also buried in this grave are their young daughter Mary Agnes, who was buried on 2 December 1896, aged 19 years, and their eldest son Edwin, who was buried on 25 February 1920, aged 51 years. |
