THE FAMILY OF JOSEPH WILLIAM WALMSLEY
Joseph William was the sixth child born to John Walmsley and Annie Hacking, who were married in the Preston district in 1867. Although only five lived past infancy, they had eight children: | |

The births of the first two children were registered in the Broughton sub-district of Preston and the others - with the exception of Thomas, whose birth was registered in Preston - were registered in the Alston sub-district. The family had settled in Grimsargh, near Preston, by the time of the 1881 Census: |
