The Family of Mary Ann Simm

Henry Simm, age 26, bachelor, spinner, of 10 Westmoreland Street, the son of Thomas Simm, moulder,
and Sarah Whalley, age 19, spinster, carder, of 29 Bushell Street, daughter of the late John Whalley, fireman, were married at St Thomas' Church, Preston on 24 March 1883, after Banns, by James P. Shepperd, Vicar.

The witnesses were Thomas Simpson & Mary Whalley.

MARRIAGE NOTICE:

"On the 24th inst., at St. Thomas' Church, by the Rev. James P. Shepperd, M.A., Vicar, Mr. Henry Simm to
Miss Sarah Whalley"

Henry and Sarah Simm had seven children. Mary Ann was their forth child and eldest surviving daughter (their elder daughter Margaret died in 1889, aged 1 year).

Mary Ann Simm was baptized on 3 January 1892 at St Thomas' Church by William E. Bentley. Their address was 22 St Thomas' Street and her father was recorded as a tobacco manufacturer.

The next record I find of the family is the 1901 Census:

I can find no further record of Mary Ann's family in Preston and wonder if they moved to Henry's native London or Sarah's native Belfast. It's also possible that they, like some of their children, emigrated to Canada.

NOTES:
1:	Although Mary Ann gave her date of birth as 26 December 1892, she must have been born on that date in 1891 as she was baptized on 3 January 1892.
