THE FAMILY OF GWENDOLINE CAMBRAY

 

Gwendoline Cambray was the daughter of Edward Ray Cambray and Ada Wilson, who were married at Christ Church in Carnforth on 12 May 1915:

Edward Ray Cambray, age 26, bachelor, labourer, of 22 New Street, son of Thomas Cambray, gamekeeper
Ada Wilson, age 21, spinster, of 90 North Road, daughter of Robert Wilson, plate layer
Married after Banns by H. J, Mercer, Vicar
Witnesses: Tom Ashton and Ethel Kate Ashton

Gwendoline, their first child, was born later that year and was baptized at St Oswald's Church in Warton:

Father's occupation: Platelayer

At the time of the 1911 Census, both Edward and Ada were were working as servants in Carnforth:

Edward Ray Cambray died on 12 May 1965, aged 77 years, and Ada died on 4 May 1983, aged 89 years. There are buried together in Carnforth Municipal Cemetery:
"In loving memory of a dear Husband and Father
Edward Ray Cambray,
died May 12th 1965, aged 77 years.
Also his beloved Wife Ada,
died May 4th 1983, aged 89 years
Also his Grandson Geoffrey Allen,
died August 12th 1965, aged 14 years.
Also Stanley Wilson,
died April 4th 1953, aged 47 years."

1: Edward Cambray was the son of Thomas Cambray and Charlotte Jane Maizey, who were married in Gloucestershire in 1875.
2: Ada Wilson was the daughter of Robert Wilson and Agnes Townson, who were married at Holy Trinity, Bolton-le-Sands in 1893.
