The Family of John Swarbrick: Wills

John Swarbrick died on 21 December 1864 without making a Will. The administration of his estate was not granted until nearly twenty years later. This may have due to the fact that John had little or nothing of value at the time of his death but was a beneficiary of his late uncle George Hodgson's estate.

It appears to have taken many years to settle his uncle's estate and that John died before ever receiving his inheritance.

John's inheritance would have made up the bulk of his estate, but Margaret had to wait almost 20 years to receive it.

8 July 1884, re: John Swarbrick of Glasson, Carrier, who died 21 December 1864 at Preston, Intestate.

Administration granted to Margaret Swarbrick of 57 Fenton Street, Barrow-in-Furness, widow and relict.

Christopher Stephenson of 8 Fenton Street, Lancaster, telegraphist.
William Arkwright of Oldcliffe, near Lancaster, farm bailiff.
