FAMILY HISTORY: SWARBRICK
THE LIFE OF GEORGE SWARBRICK:
Name: George Swarbrick
Father: John Swarbrick
Mother: Elizabeth Higginson
Birthdate: c. 1808 | |
Birthplace: Preston, Lancashire, England
Date of Death: 11 May 1859, age 51 |
George Swarbrick was born in Preston and almost certainly baptized at St Mary's Catholic Church in the town centre - but the records from that
period appear to be missing. He never married and had no known children. He set up business as a plasterer in Chapel Yard, Preston and quickly established himself as a reliable
and well respected tradesman. He was involved in the construction of many well known buildings in Preston and the surrounding area. Because he never married, there is little record of his life other than Census Returns and the only clues to the man's character are the references to him in his death notice and headstone inscription, such as, "universally respected", "a kind benefactor and sincere friend" and "much respected by all who knew him". |
