FAMILY HISTORY: SWARBRICK
THE FAMILY OF ALICE DAGGERS:
Alice Daggers was the daughter of William Daggers and Margaret Eccles. The baptism record for their third known child, Agnes, gives
their date of marriage as 31 December 1799 (a week before Agnes' baptism) but this is probably an error as they already had at least two children before Agnes
was born. The baptism records for those first two known children appear to show that William and Margaret were indeed married at the time. Alice was one of at least eleven children and was baptized at St Mary's Chapel in Lea, near Preston: |
Baptism from St. Mary's Catholic Chapel:
[In the original Latin] "Die Aprilis 12th 1812 nata & die 19th ejusdem mensis a me baptzata fiut Alicia filia Gulielmi Dagger & Margaritae Eccles (Conj: Cath:). Patrini Richardus & Margarita Cornwall. J.B. Marsh, Miss.Apost." [Translation] "The April 12th 1812 born & the 19th day of the same month baptized Alice, daughter of William Dagger & Margaret Eccles, (married Catholic). Godparents Richard & Margaret Cornwall. J.B. Marsh, Mission Apostolic" |
Alice appears to have been their eighth child. I have found the baptism records of nine children and the burial records of two others that died in infancy:
