FURTHER INFORMATION:

Emma UNSWORTH:

Emma Unsworth was born on 24 Jun 1843, and was baptized Amelia Mary Unsworth on 21 Jul 1843 at St Augustine's Catholic Church in Preston. She was the daughter of Margaret Unsworth, and the Godparents were Thomas Walmsley and Jane Mercer.

Baptism of Emma Unsworth

She died on 27 Jul 1843, aged 5 weeks, and was buried two days later in St Wilfrid's Cemetery.

There was a Margaret Unsworth, aged c. 20, living in Fishergate, Preston in 1841. She was a servant to Richard and Clara Baldwin, and was listed as having been born in Lancashire. In 1851 a Margaret Unsworth, aged 30 and unmarried, was visiting at the home of John and Elizabeth Olive in Liverpool. Her occupation was listed as servant and she was born in Preston. If she was born c. 1821 she was not baptized at St Wilfrid's Chapel.

Note: Emma Unsworth was actually 5 weeks old - not 5 months old - when she died.

FURTHER INFORMATION:

Jane UNSWORTH:

Jane Unsworth, a domestic servant, died on 19 Aug 1840, aged 46. She appears to have been unmarried at the time of her death and there were no children baptized at St Wilfrid's Chapel to a mother called Jane Unsworth. She is not listed in the 1810 or 1820 Catholic censuses of Preston, and there was no one called Unsworth living in Albion Street West at the time of the 1841 census.
