1: George and Eliza have been difficult to trace due to the many variations of the spelling of their surname.
2: Eliza Elizabeth Buckner's baptism at St John's Church in Hampstead did not record her date of birth and, as she was born before the start of civil registration in England - which began on 1 July 1837 - we may never know her actual date of birth.

1: The marriage register does not record exact ages but only "of full age", meaning 21 years or older.
2: I do not know who the female witness was but Alfred Sydenham was an employee of the church.
3: Patrick Hayes died before the date of the 1891 Census and a Patrick Hayes of about the right age is listed in the GRO Death Indexes in the 3rd quarter of 1890. However, there is some evidence that the couple had separated before 1890. Eliza used the name Eliza Corston when she signed as a witness to her son Albert's wedding in April 1890, she is listed as Eliza Corston in the 1891 Census, and her death was registered under the name Eliza Elizabeth Corston in 1892.
