LETTER FROM STEPHEN CAMPBELL:

23 July 1985

This is to inform you that Agnes Mary Jordan Campbell Lantagne passed away on 9 July 1985. She was ill for only a week and went very peacefully with her family around her.

On Tuesday, 2 July, she'd gone to the doctors for her monthly checkup and all seemed fine. The day was extremely hot (109°) and we had a pleasant old fashioned summer evening sitting out front visiting with neighbors. Mom sat out with us and had ice tea.

That night I was up a few times with her as she felt sick to her stomach. The next day I came home from work at lunchtime as she didn't sound very good on the phone. She had a fever and her pulse rate was quite high.

I took her right to the hospital as her breathing was raspy. They admitted her and said she had a severe case of pneumonia. She was put right on oxygen and antibiotics by intravenous. By Thursday she was looking better and by Friday very good. But, Saturday morning I found her quite ill when I went in to give her her bath. They called in the doctor and did more tests on her then put her into CCU. The priest came and administered the sacrament of the sick and she said she'd made her peace with God and was ready.

Her son, Tom, came down from northern California; her sister-in-law Marion from Massachusetts; and her nephew Steven from Pasadena. She got to see them all including our children and her newest great grandson, Troy.

Tuesday morning we got the call from the hospital that we should go in as she'd taken a turn for the worst. When we saw her she did respond. The last thing she said to me was, "How are you?". Here she was on her death bed and she was concerned as to how I was. She died the way she lived - a warm, loving, caring person.

Her wishes were to be buried in RI with her husband Joe and we did just that.

We will miss her and all the special things she used to say and do. We're thankful she was able to live a full rich life and that she didn't have to suffer to leave this world. She left very peacefully.

Her loving family,

Steve & Annette Campbell & family
