NOTES: | |
 | For reasons we will probably never understand, William Boocock changed his surname to Tuson prior to joining the Royal Army Medical Corps in December 1885. |
 | William signed his name "W. Tusson" on his marriage certificate and gave his father's name as "Richard Tusson, deceased, harness maker". |
 | At the time of their wedding William was living at the Military Hospital, Arbour Hill, and Mary was living at 10 Arbour Terrace, in Dublin. The Military Hospital is now known as St Bricin's Military Hospital. |
 | Because he changed his surname, I had a very difficult time tracing William Boocock. The break came when I had dinner with his grand-niece, Frances Walsh. |
 | The above information is taken from transcripts of baptisms at St Wilfrid's Catholic Chapel in Preston and copies of the National Probate Index, both held at the Lancashire Archives; a photocopy of the original marriage certificate - provided by the General Register Office of Ireland; and William's military records and various census records on-line at www.ancestry.co.uk. The photos were given to me by my late cousin Elsie (Swarbrick) Banks. |
