| At the time of the 1911 Census Richard Swarbrick was still living in England with his parents (he emigrated to the USA a few weeks later), and Alice Mary Maltman was a teenage girl living with her widowed mother. By 1921, their lives had changed considerably: |

| 2: | This is a much simplified version of the original census return, which includes quite a bit of information, but, as per usual, most of the information regarding Richard Swarbrick is incorrect. |
| 3: | Richard and both of his parents are listed as having been born in Scotland when he and his father were born in England. His mother, although English, was born in Dublin, Ireland. |
| 4: | It is difficult to read Richard's age but it appears to have been entered as 41, which is not only incorrect, it is the first time I have seen him listed as OLDER than he really was. In 1921, he would have been 37. |
| 5: | The census records that Richard emigrated to Canada in 1909 - another error. He didn't leave England until 1911 and went first to Tacoma, Washington, USA. I believe he came to Canada in about 1913. |
| 6: | Alice's father was listed as born in England and her mother as born in Ontario. |
| 7: | Their home was listed as an apartment but I suspect that it was a house divided into two flats. They and the family in the other flat were paying $25 a month rent. |
