THE FAMILY OF JONATHAN & ELIZABETH SWARBRICK

In 1871 Jonathan Swarbrick was living with his uncle's business partner. John Swarbrick and John Richmond were Master Boot & Shoe Makers employing a number of men and boys, including members of their families:

By 1891 Jonathan had made some major changes in his life. Still unmarried, he had given up his career as a shoemaker and left the little village of Scorton to move to the town of Preston, where he became the licensee of The Anchor Inn public house:

Jonathan Swarbrick finally married in 1896 but died the following year, aged just 39 years.
